Bonjour. こんにちは~ ¡Hola! 您好
I'm a Product Manager by way of user experience design with a penchant for holistic thinking, a knack for efficient processes, and a tenacity for product excellence.
It's imperative to clearly communicate the rationale behind a product vision. 'What' and 'how' should revolve around 'why.'
Digging past symptoms and ambiguity validates the root cause, so we can focus time and resources on the right problem.
A product should be designed for the user—with the user's input—both qualitative and quantitative data.
The best designs are simple, elegant, and intuitive. Great UX & UI amplify the value of a product.
Product managers propel the development process by addressing dependencies and unblocking obstacles to empower the team.
Users are human! They grow and change, and so should we. Keeping up with users means staying ahead of the curve.
I would say that Heidi is the PM that leaders dream of, but that would be shortchanging it. Heidi is the PM that everyone dreams of, from the customer, to engineers, to designers, to fellow PMs and all stakeholders in between. And beyond that she also is an extraordinary human being beyond the craft of product management.
At Byte I had the honor of watching and giving my vocal support to Heidi as she championed our DE&I efforts, all the while absolutely killing it on her teams' and the product department's goals. I also was astonished at how Heidi helped us build a robust user research process that had just barely existed before she arrived.
But back to the product management stuff. Heidi hits all three of the core tenets I look for in product hires: she is adaptable and can pivot on a dime as needed to optimize time-to-value, she is empathetic and is not only willing, but happy to, talk to customers (even the spicy ones) and make them feel heard both in user research sessions, and in her approach to defining new products and features, and lastly, she is high-intelligence, low-ego. Heidi has tremendous data-literacy and can glean valuable insights where many others cannot. In addition, her skills go beyond just the PM sphere and she is more than capable making a prototype or wires when we're resource constrained.
It's obvious that I would recommend Heidi in any product role that any company is lucky enough to find her for. However, Heidi has so many other qualities that make her a fantastic person to work with and be inspired by. Her personality is on display and is infectious and it creates a sense of team pride that so many companies I have worked at yearn for. I would recommend Heidi for any role, unequivocally and enthusiastically.
Heidi is hands down one of the best people I've worked with. As a Product Manager, she's a rare gem — super knowledgeable about compliance (huge in health tech!) and always open to learning new technologies and processes (like HIPAA). She's amazing at connecting design, dev, clinical, and marketing teams, and consistently ensures our products meet the highest standards while staying user-focused.
Her background as a designer really sets her apart. From sketching wireframes in Figma to leading weekly customer interviews, she not only provides the team with invaluable insights but also inspires a culture of curiosity and empathy. She's all about continuous discovery, rapid iteration, and keeping things moving in the right direction.
On top of all that, Heidi's just an awesome human. Her positivity is contagious, making even the toughest challenges feel manageable. She's an amazing teammate, a natural leader, and a passionate advocate for both her team and the users we serve. Any tech company would be lucky to have her!
When Heidi joined us at byte, she was joining a team that had worked tirelessly to take a single screen concept to a full stack application in roughly 8 months time. It was, in no way, an easy role to step into.
To say that her integration was seamless would be disingenuous, as it would undercut how much better she made our already high performing team.
Heidi has a way of making every single person in a room feel both heard and valued, while also ensuring that the goal remains the primary objective and everyone's feedback is valued and worthwhile.
She also took the time to get to know us on a personal level. During our stand-ups, Heidi would always take the time to ask every person something personal. How their favorite baseball team played. How their kids were. How their garden was growing. How their weekend plans were. Always something to remind you that she was listening and that she cared on a more personal level than a coworker.
I have said it before, and I will happily say it again and again and again: Heidi Chow was the best hire byte ever made. We would not have made the strides we made as an organization without her invaluable contributions.
I would immediately and without question drop anything I was doing for another opportunity to work with Heidi.
